Digital Camera: Ultimate Exposure

Before choosing the appropriate exposure mode for your digital camera photo, determine the end purpose of the image. Is it going to be printed? If so you will need the best data for highlights and shadows that can be edited in your computer.

Also, it will take a few experiences to determine if your printer prints lighter or darker prints when printing directly from your digital camera.

If you plan to print the photo you will not want to use the autoexposure mode as it will tend to make dark subjects weak and light subjects dim. You will need to interpret the exposures as you go by using the LCD monitor.
