Photography
Idea:
Perspective
Most
people take photos from a one point perspective. What is meant by
this?
If
you think about where the horizon line is in a landscape and imagine
that line in your photographs, you will notice it is usually at
about the center of the picture. Your camera is about even with
the horizon line, at eye level, so half the picture is above it
and half below almost equally even though not necessarily exactly
evenly. In drawing this would be known as one point perspective.
With
a limited understanding of good visual design one might think of
one point perspective as a way to achieve balance
in a photograph. Sometimes less symmetrical balance will help you
achieve a fresh and interesting result.
A
fun photography idea to add interest to a photograph is to stand
on something so you are above the subject. You might place yourself
only slightly above so what is different is not obvious to the viewer
of the photograph. Or you might stand noticeably higher than the
subject so it is obvious that you took the picutre from above.
Try
taking photographs from various angles or loactions, standing above,
below, far to the left or right. This will help you break away from
the humdrum "usual" approach.
By
experiementing with breaking the rule of simply taking photographs
front and center and at eye level you will begin to have more and
more photography ideas as you begin to enjoy the results
of your own slight variations.
