Digital
Camera:Maximizing Image Sharpness
Your digital camera is
capable of great sharpness in photos. In the past there was little
choice. Today lenses are of such high quality there
is no reason to settle for less sharpness than is available.
The main cause of decreased
imaage sharpness is movement of the camera when the shot is taken.
You've probably noticed this yourself when pressing the button to
take the shot, it's difficult have have zero motion as a result
of pressing the button.
The smaller the camera
the more likely this movement will occur. Fast shutter
speed can stop the movement up to a point. Yet at a certain
point the shutter speed will not be fast enough and will result
in a blur.
A good tripod is the
solution to this problem. As you check the smaller LCD
monitors after taking a shot you may see the image as being
sharp. Later you will often discover the image is in fact blurred.
For better accuracy use the magnification feature
on your digital camera to see the difference in sharpness between
holding the camera and placing it on a quality tripod..
The best solution when
hand-holding the camera is to use fast shutter speeds. It's best
be avoid shooting in low light with the telephoto settings of variable
aperture zooms. When using automatically selected
shutter speeds, the slower speed may be selected by the digital
camera.
