Digital
Camera: Linear Resolution
In a digital camera linear
resolution is the number of pixels per linear dimension. It may
be described as ppi (pixels per inch or dpi (dot per inch). Even
though ppi and dpi are not the same they have come to be used interchangeably.
Without the total image size linear resolution has no meaning at
all. There must be a dimension for reference such as 5 x 7 inches
at 300 dpi.
The linear resolution
impacts the overal quality of the resulting image from your digital
camera.
