Digital Camera: Layers

Layers in digital camera photography offers a new set of creative possibilites for controlling the resulting image. If you were to create a stack of images all exactly the same each image in the stack would be a layer.

To see parts from the images near and at the bottom of the stack, pieces need to be cut out of each layer above. If a change is made to an image below an image that has no piece out of it, the change in the lower image cannot be seen through the solid top image.

Whatever is changed from the top layer down always affects the images beneath it. Adjustment Layers is simply instructions. It allows adjustments to the photo on top without changing the underlying layers.

Layers in digital camera photography allows for broader creativity.
