Digital Camera: Exposure Compensation

For the most part the finely developed metering systems provides outstanding exposure. On occasion the photographer will have to compensate as a result of the following situations in the surroundings:

  1. Very dark
  2. Very light
  3. Extreme contrast
  4. Bright light shining into the lens

Learn how the digital camera meter reacts to light and use the compensation feature - if available on your camera. This allows you to adjust quickly while continuing to shoot photos automatically.

A digital camera with the exposure compensation feature allows for increase or decrease in autoexposure in small, incremental steps.

Depending on your digital camera, you may have a choice of interval of increase or you may have only one choice.
