Digital
Camera: Aperture-Priority Mode (A or Av)
In digital cameras
the aperture is the lens opening. Once it is manually set by the
user, the camera automatically chooses the shutter speed.
Manually
choosing the aperture gives the photographer control over the depth
of field.
In theory smaller
apertures give increased depth of field. Be sure to keep in mind
that the shutter speed selected by the camera is
also affected by the size of the aperture. Be careful to avoid a
decrease in sharpness due to camera movement.
More advanced
digital cameras offer user-controlled exposure modes in
addition to auto modes. Master the auto modes and gradually increase
your skills through user-controlled exposure modes.
